    Strong Weather

    Looks like some strong storms heading this way, seen it go across the TV that our area has a severe thunderstorm warning and Lesie county has a Tornado Watch

    __________________________

    A line of showers and thunderstorms will be moving through the Tri-Cities region during the late morning and early afternoon hours. Some of the thunderstorms could be on the strong side with hail and high winds. Rainfall could be heavy in thunderstorms as well. Daytime temperatures will only reach the 60s. A Wind Advisory is in effect for most areas through Sunday night, and a High Wind Watch or Warning is in effect for most areas east of the Tri-Cities and above 3000 feet (winds could gust up to 60 mph through Monday).

    That line of strong storms went straight from Cincinatti south (I'm 2 hours south of there). It passed over us in the central KY close to Lexington. Headed straight for ya'll.

    What a way tp phrase this?

    "Statement as of 11:16 AM EDT on May 11, 2008

    The National Weather Service in Morristown has issued a

    * Tornado Warning for...
    Lee County in southwest Virginia...
    this includes the city of Jonesville...
    Wise County in southwest Virginia...

    * until 1145 am EDT

    * at 1112 am EDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a
    severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado near
    Jonesville... moving northeast at 32 mph.

    * The tornado will be near...
    Big Stone Gap by 1145 am EDT...

    In addition to the tornado... this storm is capable of producing hail
    of 3/4 inch diameter or larger and destructive outflow winds in
    excess of 50 mph.

    The safest place to be during a tornado is in a basement or storm
    shelter. Get under a workbench or other piece of sturdy furniture. If
    no basement is available... seek shelter on the lowest floor of the
    building in an interior hallway or room such as a closet. Use
    blankets or pillows to cover your body and always stay away from
    windows."

    Re: Strong Weather

    The weather channel specifically pointed out a developing tornado near BSG just now.
    You'll shoot your eye out.

    Re: Strong Weather

    I was sitting here watching TV a while ago and there was a huge howl of wind. Kind of scared me for a minute.

    Re: Strong Weather

    Fine. Just rain for a few minutes and a few strong gusts of wind.

    Re: Strong Weather

    We had some weather in Berea this morning. Just 2 minutes of torrential rainfall and the sky was blue.
